Jennifer Shillingford A passionate yogini who believes that there is a form of yoga for everyone, Jen is a certified yoga & meditation instructor with ten years of teaching experience and over 20 years of practice. At the age of 13 she became a self-taught yogi after receiving the book Yoga in Ten Lessons by J.M. Dechanet as a gift, developing a very personal internal practice. She didn’t actually attend a yoga class for many years.

Jen has completed Anusara Immersion Workshops with Robin Golt and Barrie Risman in Montreal (2009), Ashtanga Teacher Training with Darby and Hart Lazer in Montreal (2007), and Stillpoint Sivananda Teacher Training with Glenn (2001). This is to express deep gratitude to all the teachers she has studied with and been inspired by, including John Friend, Darby, Elizabeth Rainey, Sianna Sherman, Elena Bower, Eliot Acuña, Seane Corn, Todd Norian and Anne Greene, Dharma Mittra, David Swenson and Marcia Solomon.

A certified Thai Yoga Massage practitioner, Jen studied with Kam Thye Chow in Montreal in 2002, and became a meditation instructor certified by Phra Viriyang Sirintharo, Lord Abbot of Wat Dhammamongkol in Bangkok in 2003.

“Jen's yoga class is the highlight of our week.  She creates a warm but professional atmosphere where each student can progress at their own pace.  We are seniors who began yoga with Jen three years ago and have noticed a significant improvement in our strength, flexibility and balance.  We love the sense of serenity and feeling of looseness that we feel for the rest of the week. ”
- Chris and Rosemary Gardner.

“Jen is both a beautiful yoga teacher and an amazing spirit. Her knowledge of yoga and experience help individuals experience what yoga is meant to do. She has taught classes at Sahayoga in the past and what she brings to the mat is the experience everyone should have - peace, love and consciousness.”
- Linda Cooper, Sahayoga

"The fall 2010 Yoga and Zumba retreat at Maple Ki was a bonding weekend for our staff, a great way for new and old staff to get to know each other outside of work, and to give them some ideas and tools for wellness to bring back to the workplace. The venue was beautiful, Maple Ki's lovingly prepared vegetarian meals were superb, and the fall colours and warm weather were spectacular. This weekend was a yin/yan combination of yoga and zumba that worked really well. Starting the day with yoga and meditation with Jen was relaxing and energizing, while the afternoon zumba workshop with Vivian gave us a different boost of energy and fun that worked cardio as well. There was ample free time to enjoy shiatzu or thai yoga massage treatments and the infrared sauna; to go hiking, canoeing and paddle boating; to sit around the campfires and share stories and songs; and to simply relax on the hammock. Jen did a great job as usual, putting together a really wonderful weekend for us."
